Tata Sky becomes the FIRST Indian DTH provider to attain ISO 27001:2005 Certification for Information Security

Mumbai, March 20, 2009: Tata Sky Ltd, the JV between the TATA Group and STAR has become the First Indian DTH provider to be awarded the ISO 27001:2005 accreditation, the ultimate benchmark for information security.

The assessment for the certification was conducted by Intertek Systems Certification, the management systems registration business unit of Intertek Group plc and is accredited by several internationally-recognized accreditation bodies worldwide.

ISO 27001:2005 is an international standard that provides specifications and guidance for the establishment and proper maintenance of an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The purpose of ISMS is to ensure business continuity and reduce business damage by preventing and minimizing the impact of security incidents on customer operations, field services, IT-IS (Information Technology-Information Services), data center activities and other support functions.
